Exciting 2-out 7th inning rally saves Bugbusters
The Bugbusters and DL staged an exciting contest on Wednesday night, where the teams were tied 6-6 after 3 innings. Both teams knuckled down, with three consecutive shutout innings apiece. It looked bad for the Bugs when Pitcher Harold Soria bent first, giving up two runs in the seventh. Down 8-6, the Bugbusters made one quick out and it looked like a 6th consecutive loss was at hand. However, with one out, Geoff Ruberte reached base with his 3rd hit of the night. Bob Sparacino forced Geoff at 2nd for the 2nd out, and it was looking very bleak for a comeback. But consecutive singles by Adam and Chuck Chapa plated one run, leaving runners at the corners. Then Brian Soria came up, and drilled a sinking liner which split the outfielders. Both Chapas scored on Brian's clutch triple, and the Bugbusters had their first victory of the year.
When Manager Soria was asked after the game what was the toughest decision he had to make, he answered "Finding a place to have a beer at 10:30 at night!"
